Sussex Women’s Challenge Cup

The Sussex Women’s Challenge Cup was founded in 1995 by the Sussex FA. The first edition of the Cup was won by Brighton & Hove Albion FC.

Lewes FC are the current holders of the cup defeating Brighton & Hove Albion PGA in the final on penalties last season.

Our run to the final included 2-0 wins against Bognor Regis Town and Saltdean United.

Message from The Chairman

A very warm welcome to everyone at the Dripping Pan this afternoon especially our guests from Montpelier Villa.

We commence our defence of the Sussex Senior Cup and the team will be keen to go all the way and give our fans a season’s finale cup final appearance once again.

Last week saw our participation in the National League Cup come to an end against a very impressive Plymouth Argyle side. The Rooks were understandably a little ring rusty having not played competitively for a month, but Plymouth demonstrated to us the levels we need to reach to succeed in the National League.

The team wore our very sleek third team anniversary kit (for half of the match) and had liaised with Plymouth about our kit colours beforehand. Plymouth assured us that they had been cleared to play in their normal green kit when the match officials donned traditional black kit and did not believe there to be a problem. However on a wet and murky afternoon it became increasingly difficult to distinguish between the Rooks fantastic black attire and Plymouth’s very dark green shirts, necessitating the Rooks to switch to our traditional Red shirts for the second half.

This match may have been the last chance to see the Anniversary Kit worn in action but as a reminder you can now buy the kit from the kicklocker website. (And that was probably the most wordy plug for Lewes Merch in the club’s history)

Lets get behind the team today and get back to winning ways.

Come on You Rooks
